Søren Bredkjær is the deputy director of the Psychiatry in Region Zealand (800.000 inhabitants). He became medical doctor in 1985 and specialist in psychiatry in 1997. He has been working in clinical psychiatry for 10 years and in 2001-9 he was the medical doctor of St. Hans Hospital and in 2009 he became the deputy director of the Psychiatry in Region Zealand. 2002-4 he was chairman of the Danish Psychiatric Association and he is member of the World Psychiatric Association.

According to the subject of this congress he has been involved in national committees and in expert groups about involuntary hospitalization and treatment for more than 10 years, and he is member of the national expert group with the object to reduce involuntary treatment with more than 50% before 2020.
