Welcome to the 2007 European Conference Of Acendio

I have a great pleasure in welcoming you to Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for the 6th biennial European Conference of the Association for Common European Nursing Diagnoses, Interventions and Outcomes (ACENDIO). Our theme for this conference is “Nursing Communication in Multidisciplinary Practice”.

Since 1995, ACENDIO has been supporting the development of nursing’s professional language by providing conferences and a network for nurses in the different European countries to promote and advance common terminologies, classifications and data sets for describing and communicating the practice of nursing. Following our foundation in Brussels in 1995, we have had five successful conferences in Amsterdam (1997), Venice (1999), Berlin (2001), Paris (2003) and Bled (2005). One decade on and we are back in Amsterdam for the 6th European Conference of ACENDIO.

ACENDIO organises these biennial conferences with the aim of offering you (nurses, researchers, practitioners, managers, educators, developers, theorists, and others) the possibility to present your work or learn from the work of your colleagues, to exchange information, and to network. But also to promote international collaboration, and serve as a forum for the presentation of 8 specific tutorials, 4 keynotes, 85 paper presentations, 4 workshops and about 45 poster presentations.

The focus of this conference is on the communication of nursing within multidisciplinary practice for the enhancement of patient care. Themes therefore include communicating the usefulness of terminologies and classifications, the use of nursing diagnoses, interventions, outcomes and measurement tools, and the results of nursing data collection for nursing practice.

New for this conference is the opportunity to attend two specific interest tutorials on your first day of the conference, and to attend and vote as a member at the general assembly of your ACENDIO on Friday.

Further more there is the special conference Amsterdam Dinner Cruise on the Dutch historic ship “Prins van Oranje” on Friday evening.

And at this conference poster presenters will automatically be entered into our poster competition and have the chance to win the “participants’ award for the most informative and well presented poster presentation”. All participants are therefore requested to fill in the specific election forms for this award, and will also have a change to win a special incentive prize for active participating in the election. We also like to encourage your participation regarding the evaluation of this conference by requesting you to fill in the conference evaluation form before going home again, and as a present for doing so we will hand out your participant certificate.

Welcome in Amsterdam and have a enjoyable conference,

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Margareta Ehnfors, president of ACENDIO
